Wiarton District Community Centre & Arena Renovation
The Town of South Bruce Peninsula successfully secured funding through the Federal RInC / Ontario REC Infrastructure Programs to rejuvenate and renovate the Wiarton District Community Centre and Arena. The Town has hired Stafford Haensli Architects to oversee the public consultation, design and construction of the project which will begin in early 2010. Stafford Haensli Architects are responsible for such projects as the rehabilitation of the 57 year old Ted Reeve Arena in Toronto and the design of the Angus Glen Community Centre & Library in Markham. H.Bye Construction has been hired as the contractor, they constructed the Mount Forest Arena among many other facilities.
The renovation project will see the current facility receive a new arena floor, renovated dressing rooms, multipurpose recreation space and improvements to the community centre kitchen, lobby / entrance way, building accessibility and energy efficiency. Construction is slated to begin in March of 2010 and wrap up by December 2010. Be assured that this construction will not disrupt the available ice time as all construction related to the arena will be done in the off season.
Please check back frequently to be updated on the progress of the renovations.
