Sauble Beach wastewater treatment Servicing

In order to protect the health of the source water, the health of the Lake Huron shoreline and the health and well-being of all people the Town has researched and proposed a Sauble Wastewater Treatment facility. The proposed service area in Sauble Beach is currently serviced by private septic systems, located on small lots alongside private wells. In The Town of South Bruce Peninsula received funding through the Building Canada Fund in 2009. Genivar Consultants are the Engineers for the project. This project involves constructing a new wastewater collection system for the community of Sauble Beach in Bruce County.

The Town has completed an Class Environmental Assessment - Schedule C (EA), but has elected to re-open the study to further consider an appropriate location for the Wastewater Treatment Plant, the most appropriate type of Wastewater Treatment Plant and the proposed service area.

A Schedule C projects has the potential for significant environmental effects and must proceed under the full planning and documentation procedures specified in this Class EA document. Schedule C projects generally include the construction of new facilities and major expansions to existing facilities. If concerns are raised that can not be resolved, the Part II Order may be invoked.

The Town of South Bruce Peninsula remains committed to this project with the ultimate goal of protecting our water sources from raw sewage contamination, the protection of our waterways and the life which inhabits them.
