Finding Adventure
Adventuring around the Bruce Peninsula can be as basic as a brisk hike on the Bruce Trail or as intense as Kitesurfing the winds at Sauble Beach.
Adventuring is an outdoor leisure activity that generally takes place in an usual, exotic, remote or wilderness setting involves some form of unconventional means of transportation and tends to be associated with high, medium and low levels of physical activity.
We are seeking to provide the basic information on the adventure-based opportunities available. For more details visit the websites listed or contact the organization, business or facility directly.
Winter
Old-fashioned winters, with lots of white snow and a relaxed pace, make Ontario's Natural Retreat the obvious choice for a winter getaway. Many motels, bed & breakfasts and even some campsites are open year round.
Cross country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, tobogganing, outdoor ice skating and winter camping tempt those who love the great outdoors. Romp with the kids in the snow and build a snowman complete with carrot nose and button eyes.
Snowmobiling
Winter is treasured in Bruce County with over 1000 kms of groomed snowmobile trails connecting our long, scenic county with lots of accommodations, restaurants and other services to keep you warm, happy and moving. Our trails do not cross any bodies of water and we are linked to major Ontario snowmobile trails.
Skiing
Indulge that feeling during the winter months in Ontario's Natural Retreat on one of the many groomed trails. Or be adventurous and break your own trail in a park or conservation area. Railtrails offer another ideal opportunity for a pleasurable ski and, on a calm day, skiing along the shoreline under a wide open sky is an experience not easily forgotten.
