In accordance with the Municipal Act, 2001 as amended, the Wiarton BIA Board of Management (the Board) oversees the improvement, beautification and maintenance of municipally owned land, buildings and structures in the BIA area beyond that provided by the Town and they promote the BIA area as a business or shopping area.
The Wiarton BIA Board of Management meets five times per year on the first Wednesday in each particular month. They meet in the Municipal Council Chambers at 6:00 pm. Additional meetings may be scheduled if and when required and the meeting schedule could be changed, at the discretion of the Board. The Board is comprised of seven members including one member of South Bruce Peninsula Council. Board members do not receive remuneration for their participation on the Board.
There is currently one vacancy on the Board. This is the second call to the membership to fill the vacancy on the Board. You would be considered “the membership” if you:
- Have business assessment (commercial or industrial) in the BIA designated area
- Are a nominee of a corporation with business assessment in the BIA designated area
- Are a business tenant of a property owner with business assessment in the BIA designated area (the business tenant must occupy that portion of the property which carries the business assessment)
Interested individuals are invited to submit signed letters of intent to the undersigned no later than Tuesday February 28, 2023 at 10:00 am. In your letter of intent, please include your qualifying address within the BIA designated area. If a nominee of a corporation within the BIA designated area, please provide nomination documentation from the corporation within the BIA designated area. If a business tenant of a property within the BIA area, please provide documentation which proves tenancy.
Council will consider the submissions received, subject to the rules of procedure, and will make an appointment as appropriate. Please do not include any information in your submission which could not be provided or considered publicly, as Council may consider submissions in open session.
