South Bruce Peninsula is happy to advise that Council has unanimously passed a bylaw appointing Caleb Hull to the position of Deputy Mayor.
Deputy Mayor Hull was born and raised in Wiarton leaving South Bruce Peninsula briefly to pursue his post-secondary education studies at the Niagara College – School of Horticulture.
As a strong community advocate, Deputy Mayor Hull has worked on horticultural projects with the Chippewas of Nawash at the Kitaamgwedaagwad Gindaaswin Adult Learning Centre, Kikendaasogamig Elementary School facilitating a Tree Canada grant to continue efforts to green school spaces with culturally relevant plants, the Healthy Living program planning community garden spaces, and at Peninsula Out of Doors Garden Centre.
Deputy Mayor Hull has also served the downtown business community as a board member of the Wiarton Business Improvement Area, the Wiarton & District Agricultural Society, the William Wilfred Campbell Appreciation Society and Arts Festival.
Previous community involvement includes serving as a Director of the Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation and on the board of the Heritage Committee for the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.
“Council is proud to have such a strong community advocate serve in the capacity of Deputy Mayor. We are confident that Deputy Mayor Hull will bring a fresh new perspective as Council works to achieve many important priorities” says Mayor Jay Kirkland.

A report will come forward at an upcoming meeting declaring a vacant Council seat, the report will further outline options to fill the vacant seat.
