South Bruce Peninsula Council Appoints Jay Kirkland to the position of Mayor

South Bruce Peninsula is happy to advise that Jay Kirkland has accepted a nomination that appoints him to the position of Mayor. The bylaw appointing Jay Kirkland to the position of Mayor was unanimously passed by Council at the Tuesday, October 3^rd, 2023, Council meeting.

Jay Kirkland has served six terms as a member of South Bruce Peninsula Council, three terms as Councillor and three as Deputy Mayor. As a local business owner, Jay’s experience and sound decision-making abilities will allow him to serve the community and restore a sense of stability and security within the municipality.

“I would like to thank Council for having the confidence in me to lead the community, I will remain fair and ensure the municipality continues to be fiscally responsible” says Jay Kirkland.

A report will come forward at an upcoming meeting declaring the Deputy Mayor’s seat vacant, the report will further outline options to fill the vacant seat.
