Deputy Clerk(posted March 1, 2021, closes March 19, 2021 at noon) |
Deputy Clerk2021 Salary Range $74,841 to $87,555
Reporting to the Director of Legislative Services/Clerk, the successful applicant will be responsible to perform all statutory duties of the Clerk, in the absence of the Clerk. The Deputy Clerk acts as the Lottery Licensing Officer, provides administrative support to the Legislative Services Department and Chief Administrative Officer, serves as recording secretary for Council, Committees and Boards as required and is responsible for vital statistics, marriage licensing and the Ontario Wildlife Compensation Program. The Deputy Clerk assists with records management and administrative functions related to parking and by-law enforcement. The Deputy Clerk provides support for the administration of the Town website and social media platforms and serves as a Commissioner of Oaths.
Preference will be given to candidates who have four years experience in a Clerk’s Department and who hold a community college diploma in a related field. Completion of the AMCT MAP program would be an asset. Candidates must have excellent oral, written and organizational skills, an understanding of accounting principles and knowledge of legislation related to municipal government practices. Clerical experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office are required.

Job Descriptions
Reporting to the Director of Legislative Services, the Paid Parking Enforcement Officer will enforce parking in municipal lots and other parking enforced areas at Sauble Beach. Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Work schedule: ten positions: June 1 to September 6, 2021, with flexible working hours, up to 40 hours per week. Pay grade: $18.17-$18.90 per hour.
Reporting to the Recreation Programmer, the Aquatic Supervisor’s responsibilities include the direct supervision of the aquatic team; the preparation, execution, and supervision of all aquatic-related programs including swim lessons, lifeguarding and aquatic-related events; daily maintenance in accordance with the Health and Safety Regulations; regular instructional and lifeguard duties; pre and post-season maintenance and administration duties. Qualifications: Lifesaving Society Instructor; Emergency First Aid and CPR C; National Lifeguard Certification; AED. Work schedule: one position: June 5-August 28, 2021– weekdays, weekends, evening and shift work, up to 40 hours per week. Pay grade: $15.26-$15.88 per hour.
The Aquatic Assistant Supervisor reports to the Recreation Programmer. In the absence of the Aquatic Supervisor, the Aquatic Assistant Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of the aquatics team. The Aquatic Assistant Supervisor’s responsibilities include assisting in the preparation, execution, and supervision of all aquatic-related programs; performing regular instructional and lifeguard duties; pre and post-season maintenance and administration duties. Qualifications: Lifesaving Society Instructor; Emergency First Aid and CPR C; National Lifeguard Certification; AED. Work schedule: two positions: June 5 - August 28, 2021– weekdays, weekends, evening and shift work, up to 40 hours per week. Pay grade: $15.26-$15.88 per hour.
Reporting to the Aquatic Supervisor, the Swim Instructor/Lifeguard’s responsibilities include instructing according to level and program affiliation; communicating problems and progress to parents/guardians; ensure safety of swimmers during lesson times; administrative, maintenance and lifeguarding duties. There is opportunity for pre and post-season maintenance and administration duties. Qualifications: Lifesaving Society Instructor; Emergency First Aid and CPR C; National Lifeguard Certification; AED. Work schedule: five - seven positions: June 14-August 28, 2021 – weekdays, weekends, evening and shift work, up to 40 hours per week. Pay grade: $14.68-$15.27 per hour.
Reporting to the Aquatic Supervisor, the Pool Tote Room Attendant’s responsibilities include greeting general public and patrons to the pool; handling cash; preparing deposits; performing pool maintenance. There is opportunity for pre and post-season maintenance and administration duties. Work schedule: two positions: June 14-August 28, 2021 – weekdays, weekends, evening and shift work, up to 40 hours per week. Pay grade: $14.54-$15.12 per hour.
Reporting to the Facilities Coordinator, the Horticulture Maintenance staff’s responsibilities include watering plants, grass cutting, and other maintenance duties. Qualifications: Must be able to work outdoors with some light physical activity; must have a minimum Ontario G2 Driver’s License with a clear driving record. Being able to operate small equipment an asset. Horticulture work related experience preferred. Work schedule: three positions: May 10-September 5, 2021– weekdays, weekends, evening and shift work, up to 40 hours per week. Pay grade: $14.68-$15.27 per hour.
Reporting to the Facilities Coordinator, the Parking Machine Attendant will maintain and assist patrons with the paid parking machines at Sauble Beach. Work schedule: two positions: June 21-September 6, 2021 with flexible working hours, up to 40 hours per week. Pay grade: $14.54-$15.12 per hour.
Reporting to the Facilities Coordinator, the Campground Attendant receives and processes seasonal and overnight campground bookings; input bookings into the computer; collect and deposit payments with documentation for campsites, firewood, dumping station and other miscellaneous items; daily site checks; site maintenance; answers phone/walk-in inquiries; general maintenance and cleaning of Train Station and immediate outdoors; operate awnings for pavilion; provides history/background of Wiarton Train Station; catalogues inventory of artifacts; changes exhibits. Qualifications: Must have general knowledge of the Bluewater Park Campground, Wiarton Train Station and area. Work Schedules: five positions: May 15-October 15, 2021 – weekdays, weekends and evening work, up to 40 hours per week. Pay grade: $14.54-$15.12 per hour.
Reporting to the Facilities Coordinator, the Tourist Information Attendant provides information on local tourist attractions; answers phone/walk-in inquiries; greets tourists visiting the Town of South Bruce Peninsula. Qualifications: Must have general knowledge of the area and local tourist attractions. Work Schedules: three positions: June 14–September 6, 2021, weekdays, weekends and evening work up to 30 hours per week. Pay grade: $14.54-$15.12 per hour.
Reporting to the Facilities Coordinator, the Sauble Beach Maintenance staff works in pairs, performing daily cleanup of Sauble Beach, in accordance with the Health and Safety Regulations. Qualifications: Must be able to work outdoors with some light physical activity. Work Schedule: four positions: May 15-June 27, 2021 – weekends only, June 28–September 5, 2021 – weekdays, weekends and shift work, up to 40 hours per week. Pay grade: $14.54-$15.12 per hour.
Reporting to the Public Works Operations Supervisor, the Waste Diversion Attendant will be working at the Amabel Landfill Site. Responsibilities include providing information and assist clients in recycling and refuse materials and perform site maintenance and clean-up duties. Work schedule: one position: June 21-September 5, 2021 – weekdays, weekends and shift work, up to 40 hours per week. Pay grade: $14.54-$15.12 per hour.
