Following the significant rainfalls and warm temperatures this weekend, local waterways have become overwhelmed. Grey Sauble Conservation Authority (GSCA) has issued a Flood Watch Statement for all municipalities within their area, including South Bruce Peninsula.
The Town has closed Sideroad 15 between Bruce Road 8 and Spring Creek Road due to flooding. Please do not travel in this area and find alternate routes. Staff are monitoring other roads for flooding concerns as well. As updates are available, the Town will be posting any road closures on https://www.municipal511.ca/ Please monitor this website for the most up-to-date information. Due to the potential for localized flooding on roads, motorists should exercise caution when travelling this week as conditions may change rapidly.
Significant runoff events can lead to unsafe conditions near rivers and streams. Fast moving water, slippery or unstable banks, and melting ice can present significant safety risks. Please stay alert and avoid watercourses when flows are high.
