The Town of South Bruce Peninsula is excited to partner with Bruce County to launch the Spruce the Bruce program on February 2, 2026. Spruce the Bruce provides grant funding to help strengthen communities as well as maintain and enhance downtown businesses. Eligible businesses and property owners may learn more and apply at sprucethebruce.com.
In addition to Bruce County’s contribution, the Town of South Bruce Peninsula is offering local top-ups through its Community Improvement Plan (CIP) to further support applicants. These municipal enhancements include an additional $25,000 in Spruce the Bruce funding, along and additional $10,000 dedicated specifically to accessibility upgrades, helping businesses create more inclusive and welcoming spaces. The Town also expanded its CIP areas in 2025, allowing more businesses and property owners to benefit from revitalization funding.
“Council is deeply committed to supporting our business community and ensuring our downtown cores remain vibrant, accessible, and economically strong,” says Mayor Jay Kirkland. “By expanding our CIP areas and providing additional municipal top-ups, we’re helping local businesses invest with confidence while creating revitalized downtowns that residents and visitors can enjoy year-round.”
Bruce County offers funding up to 50% of eligible costs (excluding taxes, and subject to a maximum per grant). Past recipients of Spruce the Bruce funding may be eligible for additional support for new project elements. The program is in high-demand each year, and there’s strong recommendation to submit applications early, since funding approvals are on a first-come-first-served basis for complete applications.
“Bruce County Economic Development is excited to partner with South Bruce Peninsula to be able to support businesses and community organizations to help revitalize properties and build vibrant communities through Spruce the Bruce,” says Bruce County Economic Development Manager, Heather Hyde. “These resources support the growth of our communities and public experiences in Bruce County.”
